Getting licensed is only half the battle. The first six months as a new mortgage broker are make-or-break—and let’s be honest, they can be overwhelming. You’re learning the ropes, trying to find clients, and figuring out how to run a business all at once.
Good news? You don’t need to wing it. Here’s a month-by-month roadmap to build momentum and stay ahead.
Month 1: Build Your Online Presence
Before anyone trusts you with their loan, they’re Googling you. So make sure they find something worth looking at.
Start with a clean, mobile-friendly website that includes your contact info, services, and a short “about me.” Get your Google Business Profile set up. Secure your social media handles—even if you’re not posting yet. These are the digital foundations of your brand.
Month 2: Start Networking Aggressively
Your relationships are your referral engine. This is the month to shake hands, send DMs, and show up in every real estate Facebook group, networking event, and local meetup you can find.
Don’t pitch. Just connect. Offer value, answer questions, and let people get to know you.
Month 3: Implement Lead Capture Tools
Now that people are landing on your website and socials, it’s time to start capturing those leads. Add forms, booking buttons, or even a free guide download in exchange for email addresses.
This step turns casual interest into future conversations—and grows your list for follow-up marketing.
Month 4: Optimize and Refine Your Website
Go back and check: Are people actually staying on your site? Are they clicking anything? Are you answering the questions they’re really asking?
Tweak your copy. Add testimonials. Start a blog or FAQ section. Your website should evolve with you—not stay stuck in launch mode.
Month 5: Scale Up with Ads
With your digital infrastructure in place, it’s time to drive traffic. Paid ads (especially Google and local Facebook campaigns) can help you show up in front of the right clients at the right time.
But make sure you’re sending them to something ready—a clean page with a clear CTA.
Month 6: Automate and Delegate
If you’ve made it this far—first off, congrats. Second, now’s the time to reclaim your time. Set up automated email sequences, pre-set response templates, and calendar tools.
Better yet, delegate what you can. Hire a VA or a marketing partner so you can focus on growing, not juggling.
